Description

Background

We do have a lot of Windows licenses, serials and CDs, but no idea where which one is used. The existing documentation (Google Drive) is incomplete and out of date. Furthermore, there are some laptops in store that no one knows for sure who is or was using them. To put it in other words: We would not be able to properly re-install a device when necessary. We cannot even set up a spare laptop, although all required resources are available.

We do have a lot of devices in our internal network, but only a subset of them can be identified without further investigation. There is only limited documentation and insight so far - most of which we've gathered (or re-covered) last week. To put it in other words: We do not know who's in our network, although we run confidential services (e.g. Kai's legal software) in-house.

The missing information for both of the above issues is pretty similar in terms of how to acquire it. Thus; solving both issues at once should save a lot of time.

What to change

Initially gather the required information (Device, OS, Serial, MACs, User etc) per-user and per-device, and update the associated Google document accordingly.

@poz2k444 Thank you; that'll be fine for now. A few bits are still missing, but we should be able to identify licenses etc. now.
