Wow that was quick this time; an appointment for tomorrow, 2014-11-18, at 2:00 p.m. has been made.

Status update: The preparations by our contractor have been made, internal backups (both the VM and the compiled backup archive) are set up but considered "in testing".

I thought maybe we could just setup a temporary backup solution by using daily VM snapshots using XEN / libvirt tools.

But it seems, snapshots are not supported by XEN / libvirt:
virsh # snapshot-list 6
Fehler: this function is not supported by the connection driver: virDomainSnapshotNum

So we probably have to setup a backup solution inside the Windows VM.

Can we create a daily clone as disaster-recovery for now?

Looking at the "Clone" option in virt-manager, I found that cloning is only possible when a VM is either "paused" or "shutoff".

So we need to script something or could try one of these ready-made scripts made for this purpose:
http://russell.ballestrini.net/virt-back-a-python-libvirt-backup-utility-for-kvm-xen-virtualbox/

http://gitweb.firewall-services.com/?p=virt-backup;a=blob_plain;f=virt-backup;hb=HEAD

@matze: What do you think/suggest?
