"block element" does not work on thesmartsearch.net

Environment

windows 7
chrome Version 44.0.2403.61 beta-m (64-bit)
ABP 1.9.0.1458

How to reproduce

go to http://thesmartsearch.net/search?q=AdBlock&p=acp11
click ABP icon, "block element"
try to select some element in the page

Observed behaviour

the selected element is flashing and isnt stable (the yellow selection disappears very fast)
if you click on that element the window opens and quickly is closed /disappears

Expected behaviour

correct behaviour (stable selection and filter creation)

thesmartsearch.net has added js to explicitly set the visibility style to hidden (see [0] checkTags). Not sure why they might have added this though?!

Do we want to add a workarounds for behavior like this?!

What might a workaround look like? We could use neither of "form", "table", "img", "div", "span", "p", "iframe" (see doChecks) do circumvent this, but this will probably introduce other problems?
