Environment

ABP 2.6.10
Firefox 39.0 / Windows 8.1 x64

How to reproduce

  1. With Firefox, navigate to "about:config".
  2. Search for "extensions.adblockplus.patternsfile".
  3. If it does not exist, create it:

3a. Right click settings area > [New] > [String].
3b. Set name to "extensions.adblockplus.patternsfile".

  1. Set the value to "test.ini".
  2. Select [ABP Icon] > [Filter preferences...].
  3. Add another filter subscription (any).
  4. Select [Close].
  5. With Firefox, navigate to "about:support".
  6. Select [Show Folder] next to "Profile Folder].
  7. Open the "adblockplus" directory.
  8. Observe "patterns.ini" exists with a recent modification date (from Step 6).
  9. Repeat the steps again, but with a different patternsfile values.
  10. Observe the value is ignored and patterns.ini is modified again.

Observed behaviour

The value of "extensions.adblockplus.patternsfile" is ignored.

Expected behaviour

The value of "extensions.adblockplus.patternsfile" to be respected if set. Filters should be stored in the file named, as per the documentation.

Mass-closing all bugs in Adblock Plus for Firefox module, the codebase of Adblock Plus 3.0 belongs into Platform and User-Interface modules. Old bugs are unlikely to still apply.
