Description (last modified by mario)

Environment

iPhone 6
iOS 6.3.1
ABB 1.4.0

Reported by an anonymous user via App Store

How to reproduce

  1. Open ABB
  2. Browse to https://m.reddit.com/r/aww/comments/4qmdaw
  3. Press and hold the image of the cat until the context menu appears

Observed behaviour

The option "Save Image" is missing in the context menu

Expected behaviour

The option "Save Image" should be present in the context menu

Additional information

The possibility to download images was introduced with #3160.

This malfunction can be reliably reproduced with a number of websites like reddit.com, imgur.com, the home page of apple.com. There are other websites, like images.google.com, where downloading images works fine. So this only affects a subset of websites.

All specified websites actively prohibit image downloading. Whenever an image download is desired but not available, please check with desktop Chrome behavior on the same website (e.g. with "m" url prefix, not desktop site). Reddit and apple uses CSS background-image instead of <img src>. This could be inspectable as computed CSS on all clicked HTML elements. Actual predictability of such inspection is unknown - no other browser is doing it apparently. The mechanism on imgur.com is unknown after a shallow investigation, but again, desktop chrome does not display image saving option either.

If you found a test case where other browsers allow dowloading where ABB doesn't, fill a specific bug.
Fill a feature request if you wish ABB doing better than other browsers.
