McAfee Mobile Security communication problems

Adblock Plus Version: 1.2.1

Observed behaviour

Since installing AdBlock Plus for Android, I have been receiving the following pop-up message from McAfee Mobile Security:
"McAfee Security would like to send a message to 51090"

I contacted McAfee tech support and they said that the message pops up whenever McAfee can't communicate via Wi-Fi or Mobile Data. They had me put McAfee in log mode to record any communication problems. While AdBlock Plus was enabled, the log recorded several failed communication attempts. With AdBlock Plus disabled, there were no communication failures.

I have also noticed that I have had other communication failures or delays in other apps since installing AdBlock Plus.

Expected behaviour

Is there anything you can suggest to resolve this communication problem? Is it possible for me to "whitelist" specific apps, like McAfee Mobile Security?

Yes, we can basically whitelist those requests. However, we need to know the requested URLs for that. If you can provide us with those, maybe via the McAfee log file or the Android debug log, we can add them to the whitelisted URLs.

I told the developers of McAfee Mobile Security what you said. Here's their reply:

"It’s great that AdBlock Plus thinks that it can be resolved after whitelisting the URLs. This proves that they are blocking everything and anything without analyzing it. However, supplying you with those requested URLs could be a privacy concern. I have referred this request to my management team for their advice. If AdBlock Plus developers contact us directly, it might be possible to get it fixed - depending on the priority / severity of the issue and can only be decided by each engineering team. I have sent your request to our team; Perhaps you can relay this to AdBlock Plus."

So, are you willing to contact McAfee directly to resolve this issue? Until it gets resolved, I am forced to disable ABP on all my smartphones to avoid getting these pop-up messages.

I have a question to ask before we can start having a closer look at this: @SRQtech how do you register the Adblock Plus proxy? (i.e. manual or automatic by having a rooted phone)
