Description (last modified by sven)

Background

Maren pointed out that the contact information are too hidden on the Working at Eyeo page and that it differs from the Press page.

What to change

  1. Marens image and the contact details (name, email, and phone number) should be placed on top of the left column and right aligned (like on the press page).
  2. Add a 3px radius on Marens image (this is missing compared to bens image on the press page).

Here is a screenshot how it should look like

Hey, will work with Ben on some more changes to the Eyeo Website.
Making a concept as soon as possible.
Picture should be changed either way.
Thanks

@maren: Not sure, what your latest comment implies? Shall this issue here be closed as rejected for now or still be done as specified above?

comment:9 Changed on 03/09/2015 at 10:03:07 AM by maren

If Manvel has any questions he can ask me.
To antedate the answer: Yes please change page as specified above.

The representation for low screen resolutions is still inconsistent. While the image and contact details are aligned to the left there on the press page, they are aligned to the right on the jobs page.

Also I personally find it quite irritating to see Maren at the top of the jobs page. This layout might make sense for the press page, but on the jobs page the focus should be on the jobs IMO.

@maren, @fhd: What do you think?

comment:13 Changed on 03/24/2015 at 03:30:25 PM by maren

We changed it to make the pages (press and HR) consistent and to make sure that the candidate is aware of the possibility to contact me.

Note that on the PR page there is no content beside the contact details in the left column. So it could still be considered consistent, when moving the contact details to the bottom of the left column on the jobs page. It is really annoying (in particular on mobile) that you have to scroll down to see the actual job openings.

Also the way you are presented on the jobs page is just confusing. Unlike the press page, it's not saying that people should contact you if they have questions. It doesn't even say that you are the company's HR manager. So as a visitor, I'm just wondering who you are and why you are promoted on the jobs page.

I think that it is quite clear to fine the contact person for jobs on the career page with the email address: jobs@eyeo.com. If the hint to contact me in regards to any job related questions is something you are missing we should add that. Also Ben is not named Comms/Ops Manager. In regards to the mobile version I understand what you mean.
As we are working on a general facelift for the eyeo.com we shouldn't put to much resources into the placement of the picture.

I agree with Sebastian FWIW, looks quite weird now. Contacting Ben when going to the press page is presumably a popular use case. Contacting Maren directly (not by clicking on "Apply" on one of the openings) on the jobs page seems like an edge case however. Looking over the available positions on the other hand is a fairly popular use case on the jobs page, now harder to find.

I agree with not putting too much energy into this. Would vote for reverting this change then.

comment:17 Changed on 03/24/2015 at 04:15:02 PM by maren

I do not want to have the picture located under the logos that is why I asked for a change (before agreeing on a general facelift. Otherwise I would have lived with it a little longer :)) because it seems to be not really present to the candidates to have the possibility to contact me in case of questions. So it would be my suggestion to locate it between the job ads and the logos.
If you think it makes sense to add my job title I am fine with it if it doesn't mean to spend too much time on it.
Thanks for your input.

I agree that the job title should be added for ben and maren. Besides that, i don't have a strong opinion on the rest because i can understand the arguments of both sides but none of these arguments seems really strong but subjective to me.

I have moved Maren between the list of jobs and the logos, as she suggested herself. I suppose this is a compromise everybody can live with.

Also I hid Maren's contact details on small resolutions, like we already did for the logos. Having these elements show up between the tabs and content in the single column variant there, pretty much breaks the layout.

Sorry for doing those changes without a review. But they were trivial and the alternative would have been reverting the previous changes completely for now.

Thanks Sebastian for the quick implementation. I can live with this for now. Having a facelift for the page really seems necessary :)

Replying to sebastian:

Thanks for that I was on the way of writing that suggestion.
Anyway current mobile version is looks horrible, mostly because of the tabs.
As far as I know we are on the way of redesigning the website and in the redesign we need to also make the website mobile friendly.
@Sven @Maren please let me know when you will have a concept ready.
