Description (last modified by Ross)

Adapted from https://www.passbrains.com/dashboard/view-ticket.php?ticket_no=ASA-52

Environment

Mac + OS X 10.7 + Safari + English
ABP version 1.8.12.1407

How to reproduce

  1. Install ABP extension on Safari
  2. Load http://lentainform.com/nr/38632/2758/url/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.unn.com.ua%2Fuk%2Fnews%2F1454807-p-poroshenko-tankami-i-btrami-byemo-po-bezrobittyu url in browser tab
  3. When page opens click Back browser button
  4. Click ABP button
  5. Click Block Element option
  6. Hover loading image or any other element on the page and see it is not highlighted and can't be blocked

Observed behaviour

It is not possible to highlight and block any element on the page including http://cdn.mirs.com/images/tranzit/loading.gif image.

Expected behaviour

Block element option should function and I should be able to block elements like http://cdn.mirs.com/images/tranzit/loading.gif image.

Reproduced.

ABP Safari provides the Block element option, but as described it doesn't appear to let the user highlight or select anything (there might be a flicker of a highlight along the left edge of the page but I can't tell).

There is a difference in behaviour to the same build on Chrome (43). In Chrome, the Block element option is hidden from the popup UI if the user back's to the loading page or stops navigation while on it.

ABP 1.8.12.1434
Safari 7.0.6 / OS X 10.9.5

  • Description modified (diff)

There seems to be two (possible) bugs here (although it makes sense if this is due to some difference between Safari/Chrome):

  • The highlight/selection doesn't work in Safari when stopped on that loading page (couldn't work out why).
  • Safari behaviour doesn't match Chrome, which hides the Block element option on that page.

Note: It's harder to make Chrome stay on the initial loading page after going back, just keep hitting back/back/stop.

  • Resolution set to rejected
  • Status changed from new to closed

I'm closing all issues related to the legacy Safari extension, as it has been discontinued in favor of an App Extension that doesn't share any code with the old extension.
