Description (last modified by trev)
Background
We are currently using http://files.vagrantup.com/precise64.box as our Ubuntu 12.04 image for Vagrant. However, this box is outdated - it is the initial Ubuntu 12.04 release, not the current Ubuntu 12.04.4 release.
What to change
Use the official Ubuntu images from http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/vagrant/precise/current/precise-server-cloudimg-amd64-vagrant-disk1.box - these are being updated regularly. Also, debian-goodies package should be made part of the base system, the utility checkrestart should make updating already installed systems easier.

Monitoring http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/precise/ seems to be a good alternative to what I thought popbugs would be doing.

After testing popbugs a bit, this doesn't seem as useful as its description implies. Not only does it rely on a log produced by the popularity-contest tool for no good reason, the list of bugs produced doesn't seem to be a useful help for decisions. It is pretty much an undifferentiated dump of the Debian bug database rather than a list of "critical bugs with patches available that you didn't install yet." Still, checkrestart is a must-have.
