Sharing blog posts on Facebook

Background

When you share a blog post from ​https://adblockplus.org/blog/ on Facebook the image that you can share is suboptimal. It shows a generic pic that says "Published by Textpattern" (see attachment).

Also, the text displayed is somewhat confusing.

What to change

Please change the information on adblockplus.org so that it is possible to display the ABP logo. We could use the same logo that appears throughout the website.

To fix the text displayed issue, please show "Adblock Plus blog" to the right of the ABP logo.

Felix: apparently I do not have access to the Textpatterns, can you please give access to me and @Julian so I can change the template of our blog and fix the issue.

@ben: I'm not being able to reproduce the issue when, can you please check if the issue only appears when you are logged in into the textpatterns ? And if it's still exist when you logged out ?

@Manvel: The screenshot was made by Tim using a derivative of Chrome called Iron. I also could not reproduce it. When I try on FF and Chrome I get something different (see attachment). However, I would still like to change it to display the ABP logo + a description text that just says "Adblock Plus blog."

I will add the change to the change in the description text to the ticket.

@Christiane, @Aaron: can you please provide ABP logo with size 250x250px (The minimum size is 200px according to the ​FB best practices).

@Ben: What is the reason that you do not want to use actual Blog post Title and Short description as it's now for the Facebook posts ? Or maybe I just didn't understand what you mean by a description text that just says "Adblock Plus blog. ?

@Manvel: Good point. I was basing that on the screenshot from the Iron browser (see first attachment). Ideally, we would keep the short description (in the second attachment) but add the logo to the left of it.

EDIT: Although, I wonder why this is happening in Iron? As a Chrome derivative it should be no different than Chrome.

I'm not really sure why it's different over the different browsers, but we are not using Open Graph tags that are used by Facebook, so my assumption is that as soon we will use Open Graph tags the issue will be fixed. ​Open Graph Reference.

Thanks for informing about that, yes I'll report him about all the changes we will do on the template.
