Description (last modified by jnink)
Background
The current adware page #3802 is heavy in content and includes a lot of links to different software that perform the same thing. To make the page more readable the text on the page should be updated, and to reduce the decision-making load on the user, links to similar software should be hidden.
What to change
See design in review URL(s)
1. Update text in Step 1: Get rid of unwanted programs:
- It’s recommended to run automated checks for Malware, which also allows you to remove the found unwanted software. We recommend Malwarebytes; the program has a free trial period with full functionality and is safe to install alongside your antivirus solution.
- Add button: Download Malwarebytes for <Detected operating system>
- Add link: View alternative programs <down arrow to expand section to all other links>
- Action: When the above link is clicked, expand to show the following items (do not list the software that is already linked to from the button):
- Windows:
- Malwarebytes
- HitmanPro
- AdwCleaner
- OS X:
- Malwarebytes
- Windows:
- Add: For advanced users
- Update text to read: For a more comprehensive solution for removing unwanted programs from your computer, click the link below:
- Link: Get advanced help removing adware for <detected Operating System>
- Link with down arrow: Wrong operating system? Pick a different one
- Action: When the above link is clicked, expand to show one of the following (do not list the software that is already linked to from the button):
- Windows
- OS X
2. Update Step 2: Reset your browser settings
- Oftentimes uninstalling unwanted software does not restore your browser settings to their original state.
- Add link: Get help resetting <browser>>
- Add link with down arrow: Wrong browser? Pick a different one
- Action: When the above link is clicked, expand to show the following items (do not list the software that is already linked to from the button):
- Internet Explorer
- Mozilla Firefox
- Google Chrome
- Opera
- Yandex.Browser
- Safari 6 & 7
- Safari 8 & 9
3. Add links to all supported browsers
- Mozilla Firefox
- Google Chrome
- Safari (link to- https://support.apple.com/downloads/safari)
- Internet Explorer (link to - https://www.microsoft.com/download/internet-explorer.aspx)
- Microsoft Edge (link to - https://www.microsoft.com/windows/microsoft-edge)
- Opera
- Yandex.Browser
- Maxthon (link to http://www.maxthon.com/)
4. Add a contact module at the bottom

Replying to jeen:
Thanks Jeen for creating the ticket I have couple of questions:
See design in review URL(s)
- Does that mean that the Design is currently under the review ? If so we will need to add a static version of final reviewed design to the ticket to make it ready IMO.
- Note: We also have a warning on this page if you will visit current URL, should it stay as it is right now ?
- Should this page also be moved to Help Center ? If so maybe make sense to implement the changes there, to match the design of help center ?
3. Add links to all supported browsers
- Mozilla Firefox
- Google Chrome
- Safari (link to- https://support.apple.com/downloads/safari)
- Internet Explorer (link to - https://www.microsoft.com/download/internet-explorer.aspx)
- Microsoft Edge (link to - https://www.microsoft.com/windows/microsoft-edge)
- Opera
- Yandex.Browser
- Maxthon (link to http://www.maxthon.com/)
- I assume this is related to the section "Use official channels to download your browser:" ?

Yes the design in the inVison prototype is final, although I have just added a Contact section at the bottom to include to the ticket. That is the final change!
- Note: We also have a warning on this page if you will visit current URL, should it stay as it is right now ?
yes that stays the same and will appear as the first item below the title.
- Should this page also be moved to Help Center ? If so maybe make sense to implement the changes there, to match the design of help center ?
For now this will stay within the adblockplus.org site since this page is already live.

Correct!

I see this question was asked almost a year ago, but since the Help Center is almost ready, I'll ask again. Should this page still be updated? Or will it be moved to the Help Center?

but since the Help Center is almost ready
The help center website is almost ready. The help center content is not. I don't know how long it will take to update the contents for ABP 3.0.
Should this page still be updated?
AFAIK.
Or will it be moved to the Help Center?
I think it depends on priority. If this page is more important than the content required to launch the help center than it should be added to the help center. If not, it should be added to adblockpus.org before the [help center content is updated, the help center is launched].
@jeen do you agree?
If so @jeen @wspee will you please determine which content is more important?
comment:21 Changed on 11/28/2017 at 02:39:13 PM by wspee
- Ready unset
I don't know but until we know we should make sure nobody wastes time on it.
FWIW I would say up to date ABP content is way more important.
comment:22 Changed on 11/28/2017 at 02:40:05 PM by jeen
This should be moved to the Help Center - and I would put this as low priority for now, and we can move the contents of this over with the next release of the Help Center.
I know Lisa has most of the content for ABP 3.0 done.
