Description

Hi,

We have just been confronted to unexpected problems with ABP.
Indeed, we are developing a website with advertisement. We have become aware that our users who had downloaded ABP but have deactivated it for our website now can’t see the advertisement coming up as it should appear on screen.

We have thus taken a test to try and understand where the problem comes from.

We have two navigators: Safari and Google Chrome.

On Safari, ABP has never been installed. On Google Chrome, ABP has been installed but deactivated for our website.

While navigating on Google Chrome, we can see that the advertisement rarely appears even though ABP has been deactivated.

While navigating on our website with Safari, the advertisement appears all the time.

We have gone further in the test by making a private navigation on our website and there again, the advertisement appears constantly. Advertisement tags have thus nothing to do with the problem.

We have met the same problem on many computers of dozens of our users.

The problem at this time comes from an ABP bug. Even switched off, ABP blocks some advertisement. This is a big issue for us because it implies a decrease of advertising imprint and as a consequence a decline in turnover. Could you please fix this bug because it is really a daily issue for us?

We look forward hearing from you.

Best regards,

Nicolas

Replying to nbiscaye:

While navigating on Google Chrome, we can see that the advertisement rarely appears even though ABP has been deactivated.

  • chrome version ? ABP version ? filter lists ?
  • how did you disable ABP for your site ? click ABP icon, click first entry ?
  • Which is the site ? provide exact link where does happen. However, "rarely appears" sounds weird.

Did you test that site disabling all other extensions ? or even better, do a test in a completely clean profile + ABP (no other extension - you could use chrome portable + ABP)
