ABP not working in Internet Explorer 10

Description
Operating system is Windows 8, browser is Internet Explorer 10, AdBlock Plus version 1.6 is installed
- Open Internet Explorer 10
- Find ABP icon on status bar and click it
- Choose any of the four options
Doing steps 1-3 will yield results when browser is first opened. However, within about 1 minute, the "Disable everywhere," "Disable on," and "Check for updates" functions are no longer responsive.
Choosing "Settings" will take you to options for "Language" and "Manage Blocking." Refreshing the "Settings" page will cause "Language" list menu to become completely blank. Ads are not being blocked on any websites.
Closing IE 10 browser and opening it again fixes issues for very brief period, then the issues return. AdBlock in Google Chrome browser on same desktop computer is functioning properly.
