We can satisfy a few requirements that exist for large scale deployment by having admins pre-deliver prefs.json and patterns.ini to their users. For example, this can:

  • Disable automatic updates.
  • Preset filterlists

What to change

Create, test and publish prefs.json and patterns.ini that would disable automatic update check and preset the filterlist. For example we can set really large update_hard_expiration and update_soft_expiration in prefs.json and deliver a patterns.ini with no filters, but with already expired subscription.

  • Resolution set to rejected
  • Status changed from new to closed

It doesn't make sense to release this, since if the user performs a manual update check then autmatic updates would be restored. It's better just to wait for #1285
