Android 2.1: Force-close on initial startup, logcat attached (device: B&N Nook ST)

Environment

Android 2.1 (Eclair, API Level 7); Nook Simple Touch Firmware 1.2.1; Adblock Plus Android 1.2.1.354 (latest development build at time of report). Browser and filter lists irrelevant (cf. description).

% adb shell getprop

How to reproduce

1. % adb install adblockplusandroid-1.2.1.354.apk
2. Open app from Launcher on device.

Observed behaviour

Screen flashes briefly. Application does not show. No error message on screen. Launcher remains in the foreground.

Please see the attached logcat dump for details on what actually happens but is invisible to the user.

Last version that works: adblockplusandroid-1.1.4.287.apk
First version that doesn't: adblockplusandroid-1.1.4.296.apk

Expected behaviour

Display the preferences dialog, suggest a blocklist and start downloading it, etc.

I understand it's a legacy Android version so if such behavior is by design please update the app metadata to disallow installation. It would also be appreciated if you could post the last release compatible with Android 2.1 (and perhaps other versions whenever support is discontinued) somewhere on the website.
