Background
Maxthon for Android 4.4.0.2000 is currently using the proxy-based approach and routes all traffic through it. This approach is minimal invasive but has the obvious flaws: doesn't support element-hiding and https-blocking. Maxthon should make the changes on their side:
- disable the proxy code
- use 'org.adblockplus.libadblockplus' JNI bindings for communicating with 'libadblockplus'
- directly intercept requests before the transport layer (in the browser)
- implement element hiding (inject CSS rules), measure memory/performance impact, possibly create workaround for issues
- add some UI elements and configuration to add custom subscriptions and filters
