Adblock Plus Icon/Options Disappeared?

Hi,

I have Windows 8.1 with Firefox 38.0.1 using Adblock Plus 2.6.9. My Adblock Plus 2.6.9 works perfect when freshly installed, until Firefox is restarted. Then My Adblock Plus icon disappeared from the toolbar, which is not able to be found using the status bar, nor using the Customize Firefox option either. Adblock options also disappear “Filter preferences” “Disable everywhere” “Show tabs on Flash and Java” “Count filter hits” “Sync Adblock Plus settings” “Show in toolbar”. Then prevents Adblock Plus from working. My Adblock Plus is disabling itself sometimes also. Enabling/Disabling Adblock Plus from Tools Add-ons Extensions using Firefox does not bring back the Adblock icon/options after Firefox is restarted either.

I have tried to reinstall Adblock Plus, however, I get this error “Adblock Plus could not be installed because Firefox cannot modify the needed files.” I went to Help in the Menu Bar, Help, Troubleshooting Information, then “Give Firefox a tune up” “Refresh Firefox…”, which enabled me to install Adblock Plus 2.6.9 using adblockplus web site and Firefox addons web site, however, I still get the exact same results, Adblock Plus works perfect until Firefox is restarted, then Adblock Plus icon/options disappear, which prevents Adblock plus from working.

Using the adblockplus web site I read Adblock Plus 2.6.10 is the upcoming release for Firefox. When is Adblock Plus 2.6.10 going to be released? Will Adblock Plus 2.6.10 fix my issue to enable Firefox to work with Adblock Plus even when restarted?

I went to “about:config” using the Firefox location bar, however, the “dom.indexedDB.enabled” Value is already set to true.

Are there are codes somewhere in the script that where taken away then somehow I could put the codes back somewhere, is there an option(s) using about:config to fix the issue, and/or any fix(s) to help fix this issue would be great? Please and thank you!

Adblock Plus 2.6.9 not working with my Windows 8.1 computer using Firefox is somehow my fault because Adblock Plus 2.6.9 works perfect with other Windows 8.1 computers, however, I am not sure how to fix the issue since all my results I have tried to fix the issue have not worked. How do I enable Adblock Plus 2.6.9 to stay enabled without a disappearing icon/options (“Filter preferences” “Disable everywhere”, “Show tabs on Flash and Java”, “Count filter hits”, “Sync Adblock Plus settings”, “Show in toolbar”) and everything to work again with Firefox even when Firefox is restarted? Please and thank you!

Sounds a lot like ​this issue report on the Firefox issue tracker where someone encountered the same issue and same error message when installing a different extension.

Mass-closing all bugs in Adblock Plus for Firefox module, the codebase of Adblock Plus 3.0 belongs into Platform and User-Interface modules. Old bugs are unlikely to still apply.
