Description (last modified by saroyanm)

Background

To be able to find the reason why users uninstall Adblock Plus with #3257 we are creating an uninstallation page which will be shown to the user after Adblock Plus is being uninstalled and will help us collect information about the reason behind uninstallation, but before we will have that questionnaire live we will need also update our privacy policy accordingly.

What to change

Add Uninstallation page feedback subsection to AdblockPlus.org website in https://adblockplus.org/en/privacy with content below:

After uninstalling Adblock Plus, you may be directed to a webpage that asks for your feedback. The webpage stores some application and platform related data anonymously. If you decide to submit feedback, we will also store it anonymously.

@Felix @Thomas: if somebody of you can have a rough look on the formulation would be awesome, after that would like to ask @lisa to give a final green light and mark the issue as ready.

The content looks fine but I'd refrain from calling it a "campaign" because it sounds a bit like something related to PR.

I agree, it sounds misleading, and it's unnecessarily generic. We don't have any general purpose questionnaire submission mechanism, we have the uninstallation page.

Also note that the remark about not storing the data for longer than 30 days is not correct (we don't store IP addresses longer than that, but the answers itself are a different matter), and the remark about not sharing it with a third party is redundant.

I'd suggest something along the lines of:

Uninstallation page feedback

After uninstalling Adblock Plus, you will be directed to a webpage that asks for your feedback as to why you uninstalled the extension. If you decide to submit feedback, we will store it anonymously.

(Edit: Improved wording suggested by Lisa.)

After uninstalling Adblock Plus, you will be directed to a webpage that asks for your feedback as to why you uninstalled the extension.

Initially, this will only be the case for our Chrome, Opera and Safari extensions so what about saying "you may be directed to" instead?

We're apparently planning (see #3269) to collect a bunch more information that is not mentioned in this issue?

Fare enough, what about:
After uninstalling Adblock Plus, you may be directed to a webpage that asks for your feedback as to why you uninstalled the extension. If you decide to submit feedback, we will store it with some application and platform related data anonymously
@fhd @lisa ?

@fhd @lisa ?

That's incorrect because that data is part of the URL that's being opened so we'll be receiving it no matter what.

After uninstalling Adblock Plus, you may be directed to a webpage that asks for your feedback as to why you uninstalled the extension, which will store some application and platform related data anonymously. If you decide to submit feedback, we will store it anonymously as well.
Let me know if you think this still inaccurate, or you have better suggestion.
