Description
When the changes from #2277 have been deployed and proven stable for at least 24 hours, we want to try operating only our 8 newest filter servers - in order to test the actual bandwidth they are able to serve.
What To Do
- Increase the number of Nginx workers to the actual number of CPU cores
- Remove all other filter-servers from balancing
- Monitor the logs and analyze the data
- Let the other filter-servers rejoin balancing, if necessary
Note
It may be worth the effort of *first* extending the infrastructure setup to allow for adjusting the number of Nginx workers easily via Puppet. Also, we should not try to operate too close to the limits (wherever they are) for too long, as it may very well affect other issues, e.g. 2885.
