Background

This issue is part of ABB's redesign as described under #4706.
Logic/UI which is not covered within this issue stays in place as it is.

What to change

Apply the new design to ABB's top dashboard shown in this mockup and this style guide

UI

  • Add a spacer at the bottom of the dashboard icons as shown in this mockup
  • Add a tip below the spacer

Logic

  • if the dashboard is visible, mark the back-icon in the bottom bar as inactive
  • if the dashboard is visible, mark the forward-icon in the bottom bar as inactive

Copy

  • Dashboard tip: Tap and hold an icon to modify it.

Per the description, the logic should be:
"if the dashboard is visible, mark the forward-icon in the bottom bar as inactive "

This is true, unless users go back far enough where they end up on the dashboard.

Steps to Replicate:

  1. Open ABB
  2. Open a new tab
  3. Navigate to any site (arstechnica.com)
  4. Tap the back arrow (<)

Now you are back on the dashboard, and the forward arrow is enabled. This seems like an accceptable exception to the logic rule, but I wanted to call it out.

Thanks @traynard for pointing that out. The behavior is indeed intentional. But it's worth to reflect it in the specifications. I'll get it updated.
