Background
Since supporting Safari along with the other platforms is becoming increasingly hard, we've decided to create a separate safari branch for the adblockpluschrome repository. This will allow us to remove Safari support from the master branch, along with many workarounds and much code.
We are hoping to switch Safari over to the safari branch for Safari support after the upcoming 1.12.4 release.
